After many generations, there looks to be some negotiations between Cuba and the USA. Though a full lifting of sanctions would be the end goal, at least Obama and Raul Castro have signalled a desire to talk. Here is a small blurb from the BBC article.
President Obama has indicated he would be open to dialogue with Cuba’s leaders.
But he has said that, like previous American presidents, he will only consider a full lifting of the embargo once Cuba’s communist government makes significant moves such as the holding of democratic elections.
Cuba’s President Raul Castro has said he is prepared to negotiate with the new US administration, providing there are no preconditions.
Maybe I am getting my hopes up…
As long as the USA means by democratic elections, not sending in heavily funded US based Capitalist candidates that would import the greedy global corporate machine. Damn, that is what they mean…There is no hope. 😉
