From universetoday.com comes a great breakdown of the top 10 mysteries of our solar system. I love articles like this. Does that make me a nerd? Probably…
We’ve all wondered at some point or another what mysteries our Solar System holds. After all, the eight planets (plus Pluto and all those other dwarf planets) orbit within a very small volume of the heliosphere (the volume of space dominated by the influence of the Sun), what’s going on in the rest of the volume we call our home?
[From Solar System Mysteries | Universe Today]
One of the great mysteries/questions, is whether there are aliens, and if they have visited us. I don’t believe that we are being visited by little green men, but I think there must be life elsewhere in the universe.
Here is the latest comic from cectic.com, all about aliens…
Would your opinion of the precious nature of life on our planet change, if life were found on Mars?
This picture was created for NASA by STScI under Contract NAS5-26555 and for ESA by the Hubble European Space Agency Information Centre.
A new look at the 1976 trip to Mars by the Viking mission seems to be up for debate after all these years. They may have found evidence of life on the planet! Cool! If so, this changes our collective belief that life was only made on earth by God, at least in my opinion. Scientists have been concluding that life is not so rare, and this may be the smoking gun!

Just this week, there was a press conference about the discovery of water on Mars. Here is more about that…

It also seems that the “White House” is being briefed right now on something that has been found on Mars, that is far more important than water. Could it be life? I sure hope so…Probably just proof that they have found oil, and Exxon is heading there to drill…

If you would have doubts in your faith, maybe you should ask, What would Jesus do?
Hey look everybody! Another anniversary…I must be focusing on it as mine is coming up. Must remember… 😉
It is the 100th anniversary(back on June 30th) of a big ass asteroid penetrating the earth’s atmosphere, and blowing up before it hit the ground. It happened in Tunguska, Siberia. Scientists speculate that an asteroid of this size heads to earth about once every 300 years! Crap.

On a different note, did you know that blogging can be dangerous? It turns out that freedom of speech is a vestige of a long ago time, and bloggers are being arrested for stating their views. I would like to take a moment to speak my mind…
George Bush. Fuck you…You are an evil bastard.
Stephen Harper. You are a mini Bush. Quit trying to please him. You are an evil bastard too…Get our “peacekeepers” out of Afghanistan. We have no right to be there.
Good to get that off my chest. 🙂

Warning for my friends that have been hesitant to blog on my site. Ignore the above story, and just suck it up.
I don’t know about you, but does it seem brighter at night? Probably not, but according to some recent study, dust and other matter block out a fairly large portion of the light in the universe(50%). I don’t really understand what this means for astronomy, but it still is pretty cool!
[From Universe Now Twice as Bright: Scientific American]
Astronomers tell us of very cool things that they think happen in the universe based on theoretical proofs, but rarely do we see the visual evidence. For example, we know that stars explode, but we don’t get to see it happen. But now that is not the case. Here is an article with photos with just that happening!

Evidence is king! Without it, it is harder to believe outrageous claims, like the following cectic.com comic. The Leafs beating the Canadiens? Lets see the proof…
People have been looking to the skies for, well as long as eyes and humans have been around…We have also been wondering whether life exists on other planets. Other than the alien abduction theories out there(oh, brother…), scientists are trying to come up with sensible theories as to what creatures look like on far away worlds.

On a similar vein, but on our planet, evolutionary biologists are suggesting that over time evolution is making organisms on earth more complex. Kind of makes sense to me…Not to be confused however with creatures of greater complexity being ‘better’. Because we all know that bugs and bacteria rule the world…;)

One of my favourite novels was George Orwell’s 1984. It is a scary look to the future that over time has become more and more accurate. Here are the “Top 10 Most Depressing Quotes”

Wired is asking a tough question. Should an Astronomer be allowed to date an Astrologer? IMHO, I think that if the sex is good, and it doesn’t effect his or her work, then go for it! Most scientists are more of the nerd type and don’t get much action, but I generalize…
