Today I renewed my yearly license as a Remember the Milk Pro user. Over the years software has come and gone and I have shelled out my fair share to developers…Very few of them gave me the value that Remember the Milk does. I know loads of people check out my review of RTM vs Nozbe vs Nirvana, so I thought I would take a minute to write about my experience. Here are my thoughts on what Remember the Milk has done for me this last year, and where I want to see it go from here. Continue reading “My 1 year Anniversary with RTM! I usually hate messages on Facebook that sound so alarmist, and today’s post at least 10 of my friends and family put up sounded much like the rest of them, like a bunch of BS. So I started digging around and found a great explanation over at Gawker.com. Here is an excerpt from the post. I recommend that if you use Facebook, that you read up on it.
Facebook users are freaking out over the fact that the numbers of all their cellphone contacts are showing up on Facebook. What’s going on? Is Mark Zuckerberg planning the world’s largest phon-a-thon?
A scary message is being passed around Facebook, warning that you and all your buddies’ cell phone numbers are visible to the world. It goes something like this:
“OMG this is for real everyone!!!! Warning to ALL …ALL THE PHONE NUMBERS IN YOUR PHONE are now on Facebook! No joke – go to the top right of the screen, click on Account, then click on Edit Friends, go left on the screen and click Contacts. All phone numbers are published!! Please re-post this on your Status, so you r friends can remove their numbers and thus prevent abuse if they do not want them published.”
Then Gizmodo gave a step by step instruction on how to stop Facebook syncing your personal contacts to their greedy little servers. Here is a part of the article.
Facebook loves doing unexpected things with your data. Now it’s culling numbers from your phone and adding them to its online database to “help you” find contacts. Don’t trust Facebook with your mom’s number? Here’s how to fix it.
If you’re syncing, Facebook’s iPhone app will pull the numbers in your phone’s contact file and upload them to Facebook. While it notes that these numbers are only visible to you, Facebook has a way of, let’s say, shifting its policies.
So, thank you friends on Facebook for getting my attention about this data mining, though you can turn off your caps-lock!
Yesterday I posted about the revelation that Apple was secretly storing your location data in an unencrypted file when it does backups. There is a whole lot of stink about it, including getting US Senators to directly question Apple about this practice. Continue reading “Here is why you need to Jailbreak your iPhone…”
The web was abuzz today with some finding from a study that our beloved iPhones track us all the time and save a hidden file every time you back it up. The file is there for the picking on your computer if anyone gets access to it.
Now I know that most people will say that this is not a big deal. If you aren’t doing anything wrong, who cares if you are tracked. Right? Continue reading “Your iPhone Is Secretly Tracking Everywhere You’ve Been, All The Time”
I use Dropbox a lot for storing my documents and backing up important media. But lately I’ve been finding a more useful, community and family focused purpose. When I get photos from events or share precious photos and videos, they have more than likely been sent by email.

SOCAN – Receptions w/ Dance – Tariff 8, says my Reception Hall receipt. I am getting married in about 90 days, and the costs are starting to add up. So, I am checking out all the fees. I can’t pretend I didn’t know about this one.
I am just starting to get a bit annoyed with the music industry…As some of my recent posts have talked about. What is this SOCAN fee? I am paying the music industry to come to my wedding…$59.17 to be exact. Considering that my Reception Hall is $400 or so, that means the music industry in Canada is getting a 15% tip for my celebration. I didn’t invite them… Continue reading “SOCAN is Crashing my Wedding. Grrr.”
The other day I read an article about Google Reader and how to use it as a viable Instapaper replacement. Truth is, Google Reader has been my RSS and news aggregator for years. Now that I have added the ‘Note in Reader’ Bookmarklet into Firefox to take saved notes, I am moving a lot of my Twitter favourites back into Google Reader. I also installed Reeder on my iPhone. I’m excited! Continue reading “Google Reader Archives and Some Saved Jems!”
