Weekly Photo Challenge: Friendship

Here are sequence of pictures from about a year ago when my best friend Dave came over from overseas for my wedding to my lovely wife Emery. I just love the pictures! For many reasons. First, we were all trying really hard not to laugh! Second, this was pretty much the first time Dave got to hang out with me and Emery for an extended period of time. We had such a great time! The main reason I love the pictures…Friendship. There is a reason there are so many smiles. Friends make you feel good.

Since then, life has been a series of challenges for us. Raising a gazillion children has its ups and downs, that’s for sure! But I wouldn’t change it for the world. Looking at pictures like this remind me that hard times will pass, and even when you are going through them, friends are there to help you through! Sometimes all it takes is seeing their smile in a picture.

I’ve been quite negligent with keeping up my blog. Unlike last year where I posted every day! Perhaps the Weekly Photo Challenge will help that out!

Photo of the day – Borscht! Nana would be proud.

Memory is powerful. When it comes to my nana, smells trigger memories of her. Tonight it was the smells coming from the pot on the stove. When I got home from work, my wife and baby greeted me. When I made my way close to the kitchen, I walked into my past! Em had made borscht…What a surprise!

Borscht has a special place in my heart. It always reminds me of my nana. My nana on my dad’s side was the best cook I ever met. She grew up in Poland and lived through the horrors of the 2nd World War. She could make a meal for 50 people like it was a dinner for 4. I looked up to her for how hard she worked and how she loved her family.

She knew my favourite soup was borscht. When I had a planned visit, she would go out of her way to make it for me. It always felt like a bowl of love.

Maybe it’s true that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, as I loved my wife a little bit more tonight…
