When I took this picture at one of the local parks, I didn’t think too much of it. My toddler flying down the tunnel slide. But really, that’s not what’s really going on here, is it?
My son is James Bond.
A couple of weeks ago, I attended a local backyard barbeque with some friends. It was the type of barbeque where everyone brought their kids. I brought my oldest and my toddler. The rest of the kids seemed young compared to my 9 year old. He was bored. You could tell he wasn’t too thrilled to be there.
Then luck would have it, a young boy opened up the chicken coup and let all the chickens out! Chaos ensued.
All but two of them found their way back in on their own. I told my oldest he would get $20 for catching a chicken. More out of jest than anything. Little did I know that would light a fire under his feet, and he would chase this chicken for a couple of hours, until it was time for us to go. If there is one thing it showed, he is driven and has a competitive streak in him!
He slept well that night…
This last weekend I was privileged to enjoy a great wedding celebration of my sister-in-law and brother-in-law. They are the greatest couple and the party was very different from my wedding a year ago. No stress! It was a low-key event with about 40 friends and family. They had their ceremony earlier in the year, so the dress code suited me just fine! Casual & relaxed! haha. Continue reading “Weekly Photo Challenge – Fleeting Moment”
It took talent, creativity, imagination, and it was shaped by my son’s hands! It will always be a memory for me now. The same can’t be said for bought presents…
I was tickled pink that he chose to make me the Flying Spaghetti Monster too. I emailed a picture of it to Venganza.org, the creator of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti monster, and he posted my kid’s creation on the site. To this day, it has got over 300,000 hits!
Encourage your kids to create! Take a moment to compliment them on their art, poems, stories. It is something that I wish my parents did with me more often…
I would have never thought ten years ago I would have such a variety of ages of kids. One of my biggest worries having more kids was that they wouldn’t get along. There is 9 years between my oldest and youngest.
There are days when I wonder how it’s all going to turn out for them. Will the boys end up close? Will they be able to lend a helping hand like this picture? Will they trust to extend a hand and ask for help?
My hope is that my kids end up close.
Here are sequence of pictures from about a year ago when my best friend Dave came over from overseas for my wedding to my lovely wife Emery. I just love the pictures! For many reasons. First, we were all trying really hard not to laugh! Second, this was pretty much the first time Dave got to hang out with me and Emery for an extended period of time. We had such a great time! The main reason I love the pictures…Friendship. There is a reason there are so many smiles. Friends make you feel good.
Since then, life has been a series of challenges for us. Raising a gazillion children has its ups and downs, that’s for sure! But I wouldn’t change it for the world. Looking at pictures like this remind me that hard times will pass, and even when you are going through them, friends are there to help you through! Sometimes all it takes is seeing their smile in a picture.
I’ve been quite negligent with keeping up my blog. Unlike last year where I posted every day! Perhaps the Weekly Photo Challenge will help that out!
