I have not been paying too much attention to the Occupy Wall Street ‘movement’. It’s been going on since September 17th, and has now picked up a bit of steam in the States. There are now over 200 events scheduled across the US, and Canada.
I ask, what the hell is it going to do? In my opinion. Nothing.
I hate Wal-Mart. Let me make that clear right up front! In our town we have had one for years, but recently they closed it down to make a huge new one. I vowed to not shop there. I have not shopped at Wal-Mart for a few years and have been proud of that fact. It was going well until my son asked for a couple of Star Wars action figures for his birthday.
I went to every other toy store in town first trying to find them, but with no luck. I had to decide whether to spend $20 on gas to drive to the closest city with a bigger toy store that would have what I was looking for, or go to the evil-doers…Seeing that the toys were only $10, I decided to go to Wal-Mart, just like everyone, “to save money”, and it made me sad. I felt like I had cheated on my ethics or something. The store is fucking huge, full of underpaid workers, and stuffed to the gills with plastic crap…What a depressing store.
Wal-Mart hates worker’s rights, and does everything in their power to shut down unions. Even if the workers have legally formed one. They are the biggest corporation in the world. Pay the employees a living wage you greedy bastards!
